01 / About the campaign

Our home deserves
more than promises.

We oppose EverWind’s Point Tupper data centre development. We want it stopped, and we want meaningful public discussion about its implications for the people who live here.

The development

What is
being planned?

EverWind is developing a data centre at Point Tupper, near Port Hawkesbury in Cape Breton. Reuters reported on October 16, 2026 that Anthropic had signed a lease for data centre capacity at the site.

The questions

What does
this mean
for us?

These are the questions we want examined openly. They are concerns requiring evidence and discussion, rather than claims that each impact has already been established.

  1. Environment & resources

What would the project require from local water supplies and the electricity system? How would its land use, emissions, and cumulative environmental effects be assessed and monitored?

  2. Local economy & public costs

How many lasting local jobs would be created? Who would pay for supporting infrastructure, and what enforceable protections would prevent costs being passed to residents?

  3. Health & community wellbeing

What could construction and operation mean for noise, traffic, public services, and daily life? How would residents’ concerns be heard, investigated, and addressed?

  4. Public participation

What decisions have already been made? Will residents have accessible information, adequate time, and a meaningful opportunity to influence what happens next?

Our position

Stop development.
Start a real conversation.

Stop the project.

We are calling for an end to the Point Tupper data centre development.

Put information
in public hands.

We want clear, accessible project information and scrutiny of environmental and economic claims.

Give people
a meaningful say.

We want open discussion of the implications for our environment, economy, and wellbeing, with community input that matters.
